A little something in the pipeline…

Monday the 12th is a big date in the koodos calendar.

No, not another incredible private sale, but a week-long dedication to all things authentic.

Authenticity week at koodos will bring you first hand results from our authenticity survey, we will discuss the implications of the counterfeit designer goods trade - from being ripped off your end to the organised crime at its source. Not too mention a few more little authenticity goodies we have in store for you…

So keep and eye out for Authenticity week at koodos and be aware but more importantly, be authentic.

Fan-tastic Pammy

pamela-anderson-baywatch.jpgReading in the Metro this morning, I was a little perturbed on the apparent levels fans will go to ‘get closer’ to their idols/sex symbols/stalker victims.

What caught my eye was Pamela Anderson’s Spring-cleaning post divorce bliss (for the third time). She decided to sell off all the worldly possessions of one of her houses (shame just the one?). Items included CJ Parker’s (her Baywatch character) red life-saving float, a chain-mail bra, an excercise machine and frilly nickers. Now who in their right mind would want to own second-hand knickers - never mind bidding for them?? Some things just aren’t meant to be passed on - and I fear only encourage that little group of fans that are suspicious and creepy.

So sell off your Baywatch floater thinggy, and even THE Pamela Anderson boob holder bra. But knickers? Well I just don’t know. I guess if the demand is there. The one silver lining is that she gave the proceeds to animal welfare group Peta.

Do you have a celeb, male or female, you’re so terribly fond of, you’d bid on their knickers?

Back to black?

anna.jpgIt appears, that just when you think you know what’s going on with the weather / style trends of the season / London’s mayoral election… life throws you some curve balls.

The curve ball of the day / rather confusing trend, appears to be pretty starlets of stage and screen dousing themselves in swathes of black, which is fine yes, but for spring?

The likes of Lauren Conrad, Rhianna, tattooed temptress Kat Von D and Anna Ferris have all been spotted in black creations despite it being May and officially summer. Maybe these chicks just aren’t that enthralled about the floral or star inspired catwalks of Stella McCartney and Chanel?

Well you can’t please everyone!kvd.jpg

Freeze London today

Ever wanted to freeze time? Nip down to London Liverpool Street station and you can. London freeze is happening between 18:24-18:28 and is part of the new rage of falsh-mobbing. All you have to do is get there in time to take part - or observe this rather odd event. Here’s how it looked in grand Central Station, New York:

Run Gwan boy run….

We don’t tend to make a habit of banging on about how brilliant we are here at koodos, but for a good cause, why not?

Gwan, our marketing messiah, recently ran the London Marathon in aid of the Terrence Higgins Trust. With some chums, he came up with an inventive and entertaining way to break up the monotony of training.

Not only that, but he entered the vid into the ‘Just Giving’ donation competition and promptly won it! Winning £500 to go towards the charity.

So congratulations to Gwan for both, competing in the race and proving that his creative skills are top notch.

Watch and enjoy.

Some talent!

In case you missed this little gem from popular show ‘Britain’s got talent‘, it’s really quite entertaining - even seemed to rock Simon Cowell’s boat. In the words of Michael ‘Don’t stop til you get in enough.’

Best Dressed Men - 2008

We all know how we would ‘like’ our men to dress, but the chances are they are more likely to grott around in their jeans and sloppy tee-shirts then a super stylish Giorgio Armani or Lyle and Scott piece.

Well, with the GQ ‘Best Dressed Man’ list 08 being published this month, it may give your man a much required kick start to his fashion sense. So here are the big runners, past and present, in this interesting / ever inspiring list of best-dressed men, this side of mars:

david_beckham1_300_400.jpg

2002/03/04 – David Beckham of Armani and “apparently” football fame (This boy wonder scored a double with the confusing status of 6th best and 9th worst in the 2008 listings).

2005 - Rio Ferdinand – Not too sure about this wild card, but with earnings of over £100k a week, you would think he can afford some style, maybe?

2006 - Clive Owen – There’s a stylish aura about this man, that Lancome and Tag Heuer have also noticed.

2007 - Daniel Craig – 007 in 2007 – Sorry couldn’t help myself!

2008

tn2_james_mcavoy_1.jpg

No. 3James McAvoy – it appears starring alongside the luminous Miss Knightley and being spotted in oodles of Gucci and Armani is a sure fire way to get you noticed in the fashion stakes.

No. 2Daniel Day Lewis – Spotted in Paul Smith when he picked up his Best Actor Oscar this year, this seasoned thespian keeps ahead of the crowd.

No.1 - Daniel Craig – Reclaiming his 2007 ‘Best Dressed’ crown, this 007 slickster can’t seem to help himself when it comes to looking good. Having been spotted in Dunhill for the Baftas and Tom Ford on set – it’s obviously down to the clothing!

Prints charming

flower-dress3.jpgLike ordering at a restaurant with a bunch of your friends, we all want to know what everyone else is doing. In fashion, it gives us ideas on how to form our own look for the upcoming season, and gives a little sneak preview on what works - and what doesn’t.

The big news this spring/summer is floral prints - bold or subtle, bright or subdued, it’s all about working the prints. From the Fashion Week stretch last year there were some very obvious trends to lead with this Spring/Summer - feminine, nipped in waists, cute patterned dresses and colour colour colour. We’ve got some stunners on the site - take a peak here - serve piping hot with a stack of big bangles and perhaps some glad sandals.flower-dress2.jpg

Extra tip - to emphasise your Spring/Summery look (and help boost a barely non-existant tan) try using either white or yellow nail polish. A little sceptical at first, I snapped up a little pot of white Barry M polish for just £4 and have since fallen in love with it.

Naomi turns Ugly

ugly-betty.jpgRemember Posh’s acting debut on the big US sitcom hit Ugly Betty (have a peek back here: Ugly Becky)? Seems Naomi Campbell has now secured a spot in the finale of the third season. As she has no shortage of dramatic flair, seen in her varying tantrums and public displays, I personally can’t wait to see Miss Campbell’s performance. And maybe hear from the cast what it was like working with her!

The Alternative to London Fashion Week…

With all the glitz and glamour of London Fashion Week, it is easy to forget about our Capitals other fashion week - The Alternative Fashion Week starting today (21st of April) being held at London’s iconic not to mention trendy, Spitalfields Market.

alt-fashion-week.jpg
The Alternative Fashion Week is an eclectic collection of young, up and coming designers all aiming to display their skills and designs at the east London event. Not only are there daily fashion shows, but like London Fashion Week there are stalls and events for visitors to view / buy the wares and meet some of the designers themselves.

Previous AFW’s have helped to propel the likes of Gareth Pugh and Jasper Garvida into the limelight and in turn onto the catwalks of LFW – So make a date and head down to Spitalfields this week and if you’re lucky, you may just bag your self a designer bargain of the future…
Alternative Fashion Week is at Spitalfields Traders Market, Crispin Place, Brushfield St, London E1 21-25 April.
