Cashmere catch-up

Nope, we haven’t counted the number of shopping days left until you-know-when… but if you are contemplating getting a few presents on your list crossed off early, then this is the sample sale for you.

The TSE sale is always worth a look for classic men’s and women’s cashmere, as well as fashion-forward pieces. Personally, I’m hoping for cold snap so that I can wear my black cashmere cape from last year’s sale.

The sale is on 20 and 21 October (10am to 8pm) and 22 October (10am to 6pm) at the Camden Centre, Bidborough Street, London WC1H 9JE.

And if you can’t make it down there, check out the bargain cashmere selection at koodos, including Dear Cashmere and Basso & Brooke.

Jeans for life

william rast jeansjbrand jeanssilver jeans

We do like an investment buy at Bargainista – and designer denim certainly falls into that category.

It was slightly alarming, however, to read in the Daily Mail that up to two million of us hold onto a favourite pair of jeans for up to forty years, with the average pair of British jeans clocking in at six years old.

Above, here are a few pairs available at tasty discounts that you might want to hang on to, from William Rast, J Brand and Superfine. In the meantime, let’s see how bargainistas compare to the national average.

Ooh la la for less

yslParis Fashion Week draws to a close on Thursday, which means that’s it from the catwalks for another season. Here are a few bargainista suggestions for adding a little je ne sais quoi to your wardrobe for less.

  • French polish is a key look this season; see the new collection from Next for a high street take on the trend.
  • A pink coat is the thing to cheer you up, notes this week’s French Elle. Take your pick from Dotty P, Hobbs, New Look and Monsoon.
  • Hussein Chalayan had his moment in the Paris spotlight yesterday; check out our selection at koodos with an extra 10 per cent off.
  • More Paris brands from koodos: Yves Saint Laurent’s animal print bag; Stella McCartney sunglasses from £29; Cacharel watches.
  • Chanel tomorrow. If you do one thing, as they say, to update your make-up this autumn, make it a black lippie – yes, really. Chanel’s Rouge Allure (£21.50 from Boots) in Maniac, Hysteria and Obscure leads the pack.
