Vivienne Westwood is a “nutter”?
“Vivienne Westwood is a nutter!” disclosed an unnamed associate, during a freewheeling tirade on one of our most iconic home-grown designer talents.

Furiously I listened, as said associate continued his rant, dismissing Westwood’s recent Greenpeace-friendly, anti-WMD stint outside Parliament and subsequently, her Easter Monday, police barricaded trip to the Atomic Weapons Establishment in Berkshire, as nothing more then the rants of a “demented crone”.
A well-documented activist, topics of protest have included consumerism, Art (apparently she loves to ‘rip the proverbial’ out of close friend and controversial artist Tracey Emin), propaganda, Guantanamo Bay (displayed during her Red Label A/W 08 show during London Fashion Week) and most recently Weapons of Mass destruction. Westwood warns ominously that we have “passed the breaking point and in 100 years there will be just one fifth of the worlds population remaining” stating that “nuclear weapons are all part of that”.
She has a point…

Everyone knows Vivienne Westwood is an eccentric. Her dyed, luminous orange crop and penchant for slogans do more than hint towards this fact. She’s maybe not completely ‘up your street’, but to dismiss her as a “nutter” is nothing more than shallow, ignorant and clearly, in some sort of denial.
To put it bluntly, unlike Mr. Unnamed, she cares enough to protest, and shock horror, even on a bank holiday. Yes, yes… ‘On a bank holiday?’, may be some certifiable, fruity British behaviour, but you’ve surely got to respect her for that?
