LMVH 1 - eBay 0
LVMH celebrated a £30m victory over eBay yesterday as the group, composed of Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Donna Karen and Tag Heuer, used their combined fabulousness to take on the online bidding site. eBay was penalised for its lax laws protecting the trade of authentic goods on its site.
Investigations in 2006 revealed that nine out of ten Luis Vuitton bags and Christian Dior items on offer were fake. Frightening statistics for any online bidder who may have to Russian Roulette their way to getting a designer item from a brand they love. If only they had heard of koodos.
Hoorah for the Paris courts who made the ruling which will certainly put a dent in the online trade of fake items in the future.
