It was an excited crowed that gathered at Vauxhall Fashion Scout this evening for the eagerly awaited Harriet’s Muse S/S 09 collection. The anticipation was almost at melting point when the doors opened, and the people flooded in, leaving barely standing room inside.

To an extravagant operatic chorus, the show opened to audible gasps. Utterly seductive, designers Cheryl Partington and Craig Spellar went straight for the throat with a stunning bridal inspired corseted tutu. As expected from these masters of corsetry and structure, the collection was brimming with boned, silk creations. A simple black, white and red colour scheme allowed for bold statement pieces, dramatic contrasting accessories and the playful use of printed illustrations and animal print.

Contemporary yet opulently old school, skirts were full and lifted, both long, short and unusual, allowing for beautifully complex silhouettes. Exquisitely tailored jackets, with tails and quirky asymmetric cuts were offset with sharp, raw silk city shorts, perfect with the black patent sky high-heels on display. Glamour was everything, from the piled hair to the 50’s Hollywood make-up complete with black flicked eyeliner and bejeweled eyelashes.

The collection oozed femininity and opulence, with ribboned lacing and bows at every turn, yet it still managed to stay edgy, sexy and chic. To the roaring vocals of Alice Russell, the collection climaxed with two stunning red silk dresses that any A-lister would die to be seen in.

A sublime collection, including some choice pieces; a black and white prom dress with bow neck decolage, a black and white corseted dress, a red draped silk dress and, of course, the bridal entrance piece.
