Made a resolution to pull on your trainers and get moving? ElleUk.com has some tips on getting fit for less, including finding a running partner and putting together a great playlist for motivation. What, though, of the kit? Splurge: on a good sports bra - and replace it as soon as it wears out. Save: on workout tops and pants - styles don’t change dramatically every season, so stick to flattering basics in sweat-wicking fabrics and they’ll last you for years. Top tip? Buy everything in black and resist white or coloured piping - that way, nothing will go grey in the wash and you’ll be able to mix and match sale buys from different brands.
Now for the discounts.

We love Diesel. We know that koodos customers love Diesel. It is a favourite brand for mens, womens, and kids. We met with the people from Diesel in Italy and had an opportunity to offer Diesel at some really crazy prices. We couldn’t resist, more than 100 styles of Diesel at some eye-catching prices–no really, crazy prices. Tops from £5, shorts and trousers at £10, even jeans at £20 and £25. We put them all together for a limited time. Because the prices are so low, we are limiting each customer to 20 items. Get in there quick because the Diesel deal will not last.

A confession: sometimes Bargainista is so busy searching out the best fashion deals that she quite forgets to treat the man in her life. And it’s a common failing - according to a report in yesterday’s Sunday Times, husbands, boyfriends and fathers are the real losers this Christmas with spending down 10 per cent on men’s gifts this year. So let’s put that right with our pick of this week’s best buys for him:
- Keep it casual with men’s Timberland shirts reduced by over 60 per cent at koodos…
- … or smarten him up with an extra 20 per cent discount at Moss Bross with promo code SHORTLIST until 18 December.
- Treat him to a cashmere sweater: already great value, Uniqlo’s crew necks are reduced to £49.99; there’s 20 per cent off Autograph knitwear at Marks & Spencer; and up to 60 per cent off at Charles Tyrwhitt.
- Cellar book, golf notes or cufflinks box? Save 20 per cent on men’s gifts at Smythson with code SUNTIM1.
- There’s nothing like a proper shave - check out the latest offers on brands such as Geo F Trumper at The English Shaving Company.

Sigourney Weaver hit the headlines recently for calling on Hollywood stars to recycle their red carpet frocks - “I want to see people at movie premieres wearing outfits they’ve had for ten years,” she said. One person taking her plea to heart is Bargainista’s new favourite celebrity Kristina Rihanoff: the Strictly Come Dancing star earned the approval of the Daily Mail this week when she wore the same dress to five separate events. How to do a Kristina? Bring down the cost per wear of your favourite dress by ringing the changes with an evening jacket, clutch bag or showstopping necklace; adding a winter coat and shoe-boots for daytime, however, is probably a (quick)step too far.

Our favourite quote of the week? “The new black is 60 per cent off,” said one retail analyst quoted in The Guardian. Bargainista, however, begs to differ: could red be the new black? We only ask because red popped up in lots of the forthcoming spring 2009 collections (including Lanvin and, as seen here on Jessica Alba at the Campari calendar launch, Dolce & Gabbana), which makes it a shade worth seeking out now - snap up a little red dress for your Christmas party and it will still look current next season. Best buys: Whistles has a few to choose from in its pre-Christmas sale; Warehouse has reduced its bow halter dress; or treat yourself to Chloe’s red tote bag or some dramatic red jewellery at koodos.
