Lily’s Glamourous performance
Tongues have been wagging recently about Lily Allen’s ‘performance’ at the recent Glamour Awards in London. To catch up the slow ones - she was awarded the ‘Editor’s Special’ Award and was coincidently too drunk to give a decent acceptance speech.
Now I’m quite fond of our Lily - I’ve tapped a foot to a few of her songs, supported her through her weight issues and her decision to cut back on the drinking. But it wasn’t only her behaviour that was a shocker on Tuesday evening. She arrived brandishing new pink hair, bright blue nails and a white and pink dress that on closer inspection turned out to be little Bambi with throat slit. Lovely.
Now despite the tuts from fashionistas and critics, I am loving the pink hair. She’s young, she’s got great skin and besides being a bit of a sloppy homemade job, it’s fun. The blue nails were also a fabulous touch - solid colours away from the normal pinks and reds are going to be big this summer so it’s fun to dabble in different colours - as long as you keep your nails short.
But the dress. I tried to find something nice to say about it. I honestly did but it is just plain hideous. Bambi = cute, but throat slashed? Just horrid. I’m guessing she won’t be throwing that in her next New Look dress spread.
She has since written an apology about her behaviour and her embarrassment of being carried to her car. Reflecting on the evening she stated ‘It’s not cool getting that drunk’. Sounds strikingly similar to the usual morning after ‘I’m never drinking again’, but I do wish her luck in her endeavours.
