Emma Watson goes couture…

There is something a little bit magical about these latest Emma Watson shots for Vogue Italia and no Harry Potter is no where to be seen.

Lil’ Em is all grown up it seems, as she modeled couture for the iconic magazine, being shot by the artistic eye of photographer Mark Seliger. The young actress, who is fast becoming a name in demand throughout the fashion world, said she was so amazed by the quality of the dresses (daaaarling we ARE talking couture) and the fact the jewellery she was wearing had to come with it’s own body guards…

I think it’s fair to say, Miss Watson has come a long way from the frizzy haired goody-goody who first shot to fame in Harry Potter almost 10 years ago now (can you believe it?), looks stunning, and totally within her rights to be there. In fact this is not the first time Emma has been in demand with high fashion

Having amassed a fortune of over £10 million, Emma has acknowledge she will ‘never have to work for money’ so what better to do than to pose for vogue instead?

British Fashion Awards 2008: Nominations are in…

It’s that time of the year again and Agyness must be quaking in her Henry Holland boots, because come November the 25th, the new Model of the Year will be crowned at the prestigious British Fashion Awards, with the nominations being released today.

Of course it is not just models that get all excited about the BF Awards, as the best up and coming designers to watch, red carpet designers, accessories designers and general brands get honoured at the glitzy ceremony.

This year the nominations for best up and coming designers sponsored by Swarovski incdlude: Louise Goldin, a plucky SCM graduate who has been taking the worlds catwalks by storm, Nicholas Kirkwood, Anna Vince and maybe a familiar name, Felder & Felder - who eagle eyed fashion watches will know, only 2 seasons ago this young brand was showing it’s A/W 08 collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

Accessory designers who are setting the scene on fire include: Rupert Sanderson - the new god of the shoe? Should Tamara Mellon at Jimmy Choo be worried?

Red carpet designer nominations - with all the glitz and glamour of the A-list, include: Stella McCartney, Giles and Matthew Williamson. Hmm that’s a difficult choice in my eyes…

The prestigeous Designer Brand of the year award nominations are equally exciting with a difficult decision between: Paul Smith, Agent Provocateur and Jimmy Choo - all in the running.

Of course, the one that gets people excited, Model of the year see’s which British model has made the biggest contribution to the international fashion scene with nomines including: Agy, Lily Donaldson - who has stared on many a catwalk including Vivienne Westwoods 1st showing of her Red Label in London for 9 years last season as well as countless covers, and young, up and coming Jourdan Dunn who in two short years after being spotted, has already walked the catwalks for Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier couture and Alexander McQueen - phew impressive stuff… Agy should be scared.

Harriet’s Muse indeed…

I am green with envy over Caroline, the glamorous winner of the koodos / handbag.com competition. Not only did she get invited along to London Fashion Week, to sit on the front row of a couple of London’s most sensational catwalk shows but she became a designers muse for the day. As part of her prize, she got to pick an outfit from one of four of the hottest up and coming designers who featured in koodos’ Vauxhall Fashion Scout online Boutique. The lucky thing, especially liked the look created by the seductive and highly stylish designers, Harriet’s muse.

Harriet’s Muse is famous for tailor fitting unique corsets and dresses, so not only did Caroline win a beautiful silk dress created by the hands of the immensely talented designers Cheryl Partington and Craig Spellar; she got to have it made to exactly her size. Guarantees no ‘friends’ borrowing your favourite dress hey?

Here are few pics of her having it fitted. Are you jealous too? If so go check out Harriet Muse’s boutique on the first floor of Kingly court, just off Carnaby street. Plus, you could always enter a koodos competition too and maybe next time, YOU could win something as fabulous.

5 reasons to love London Fashion Week

Here are 5 reasons why we loved London Fashion Week these season… what do you think?

square-email-2.jpg

  1. The not-quite-A-list celebs – after the glossy perfection of the New York front rows, it was refreshing to see Peaches Geldof yawning her way through Temperley.
  2. Daisy Lowe – she’s two dress sizes bigger than your average model, she told Grazia, and she doesn’t care.
  3. It’s a great incentive to get your look together right at the beginning of the season. Our autumn wardrobes complete, we can now relax until next March.
  4. With Topshop and Jaeger London on the catwalk schedule, London is as much about the high street as it is about unattainable designer looks.
  5. Sarah Brown: after going head to head with Carla Bruni earlier this year, hosting the London Fashion Week reception at number 10 held no fear for the Prime Minister’s wife. In her purple Jaeger cocktail frock, she pulled it off.

Bora Aksu S/S 09

With last seasons leather inspired utility bodices still fresh in peoples memories, it was an excited, stylish crowd that congregated at the BFC tents this morning, for the eagerly awaited Bora Aksu S/S 09 collection.

There is a reason why this talented young designer has won the prestigious New Generation Topshop sponsorship four times in a row and that was clearly displayed as the Bora Aksu models walked notably, slowly and delicately down the catwalk.

Dressed in swathes of organza, silk, two-tone satin and billowing gauze, Bora Aksu’s love of fine feminine fabrics and intricate almost nomadic detailing was ever present. Tuliped skirts and soft tailored jackets were both smart and dream like, with veils, delicate blouses, intricate stitching on the chest and chiffon capes flowing around the body giving a silhouette of movement and grace.

A soft pastel palette of pink, white, peach, cream, lime, moss green and black all epitomised the feminine neutrality of this collection.

This collection is very wearable, maybe more so than last season, with the whole collection having an other-worldy feel, almost angelic in it’s quality, it was truely beautiful and reinforced Bora Aksu’s indoctrination into the forefront of the London fashion scene.
