eBecks

It’s always hard when you get robbed, but it’s that little bit more heinous when it’s by someone you know. This is exactly the situation the Beckham’s found themselves in over the weekend, when Victoria’s eagle eyed parents spotted what they thought were their daughter and son in law’s possessions on eBay.

After going round to the Beckham’s Hertfordshire mansion to double check, only to discover the same items were missing, Vic’s parents called the police. It turns out that ‘Beckingham Palace’ was indeed pilfered from, but by V and D’s own staff! A 55 year old couple, employed by the superstars as housekeeper and maintenance, were arrested at their home in Essex later that day and are currently being dealt with by local police.

Items that were stolen and attempted to be sold included designer clothing, David Beckham’s football kits and football boots with their children’s names inscribed. Charming.

Non of this is good, it is of course a huge breach of trust, let alone illegal, let alone totally immoral, but what baffles me the most, is that they thought they were never going to get caught?? Stupid much…?

Posh trots… Love or Loathe?

Posh Spice, aka Mrs Beckham, aka ‘Soccer mom, faux Americana, fashionista supremo’ has done it again. What cut her hair off even shorter? Nope. Named a child after a random suburb of a city? Nope. Done something crazy to get as much publicity available / be the upmost centre of attention at that exact moment time… hmmmm kinda.

Nothing too dramatic to report however, she was spotted last week in some rather striking / ridiculous heel-less, high-thigh-high, pvc boots (yes that is actually correct) by ‘designer to the stars’ Antonio Berardi. The vertically challenged boots are specially fitted to the wearer and cost over £3000. Not the first to try the heel less look (Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney both tried the heel-less in their S/S 08 collections). Weird they may look but Berardi declares that ‘having a heel is just psycological’ and insits that the shoes are very comfortable to wear and have all the support a woman would need.

Psychological maybe, but I’m not 100% sure if Antonio will be there to ’support’ you when the men in white coats drag you away, but didn’t they say that about mini skirts? Hmmm what do you think?

London Fashion Week S/S 09 - Paul Costelloe

It was to a packed crowd that Paul Costelloe opened London Fashion Week, the S/S 09 collections.

people-outside.jpg

The first show of this season, African drums and chanting set the theme, loud and exhilarating  - maybe to blow the cobwebs from the sleepy 9.30am audience? As the music suggested, the ‘Dark Continent’ was a central theme in this collection, cleverly mixed with influences taken from Colonial Britain.

Raw silks and linens, in golds, creams and beige were the fabrics of choice, with bold floral prints and bright block coloured dresses thrown in to split the collection. Silhouettes in fuchsia, sunflower yellow and charcoal were also used to striking effect.

Key trends from the Costelloe catwalk include; high waisted trousers, belted waists, military jackets complete with gold buttons, puffed sleeves and one strap dresses - all contemporary yet classic and all with the opulent elegance one has come to expect from Paul Costelloe.

Overall, a beautifully crafted collection, perfectly commencing London Fashion Week S/S 09.
