Adidas – A brotherly enterprise
Adidas is a brand with a strong, dynamic history. Adolf 'Adi' Dassler began to produce his own sports shoes in 1924, after he returned from fighting in WW1. Designing obviously ran in the Dassler family, as aside from Adidas, Rudolf Dassler (Adi’s brother) after helping to establish the brand, went on to set up rival sports label, Puma.
It wasn’t until Adidas was chosen as the official sponsor of the 1928 Olympic games that Adidas as a brand was truly established. The contemporary nature and sheer quality of his designs reiterated Adidas a brand to be reckoned with.
Today Adidas is known as one of the premier sporting brands in the world, sponsoring iconic sporting teams and individuals such as AC Milan, Chelsea, Tim Henmen, Patty Scnyder and Ana Ivanovic.
