Asics has been an athletic design brand since its conception in 1949. Founder, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka first began what would become his Asics empire by designing and creating the sporting shoes in his living room in Kobe, Japan.
His love of designing and his inbuilt spirituality led to Mr. Onitsuka coming up with the name Asics, an acronym for ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano’, a famous Latin saying meaning ‘A sound mind in a sound body’. The naming of this brand is prominent and it hints towards the Japanese ethos of hard work and clear character, with Asics championing a powerful alliance of body and soul. Emphasising the brand as being very spiritual and very Asics.
