Donna Karan is a name synonymous with female fashion, more specifically creating the ultimate working woman's wardrobe to spectacular success. Her essential designs for the modern female urbanite continually aim to combine sharp sophisticated dressing with pretty feminine details, which of course she does with ease.
DKNY was established in 1988 and is quintessentially a New York lifestyle brand, hence the name (Donna Karan New York), however DKNY's city chic designs would be wasted if New York got to keep them all for itself and thankfully it doesn't.
The Spring /Summer 08 show did nothing but embed DKNY further into the hearts of fashion conscious working women everywhere. The DKNY women's clothing range was full of cute little dresses designed like tunics that are perfect for wearing with leggings or without if you’re feeling daring. The look was elegant but cute, not unlike a cross between Jackie Kennedy and Sienna Miller, if you can imagine that? Just like last season, tailoring and fitted jackets where in as where heeled buckled shoes to compliment the pretty dresses and skirts.
DKNY colours for spring and summer included a great deal of white, charcoals and soft oranges only to be wonderfully surprised with pink and silver hues (and shoes) that really caught the eye. DKNY has the ability to design beautiful fashion pieces that can easily transcend the work/play boarder line, very few can get away with it but DKNY's array of maxi length printed dresses are chic and smart under a suit but simply stunning when you remove the jacket.
All in all DKNY has once again set the standard for the classy working woman's wardrobe and suggesting that you don't want anything from the DKNY S/S 08 collection is simply not true now is it?
