Dolce & Gabbana have made a name for themselves as being the fashion icons that won't play by the rules. Fabulously over the top and not ashamed to be, makes Dolce & Gabbana stand out from the usual fashion crowd.
After the dramatic leopard print cacophony of the extraordinarily fun A/W 07 D&G collection complete with leopard print handbags and shoes, the Spring/Summer 08 collection from the Italian fashion house was in striking contrast. The D&G S/S 08 collection was awash with delicate pastel colours, soft hemlines and flowing with femininity – a key trend this spring. Emphasising of the waist looks set to continue into the New Year with belts being a main stay in the S/S 08 collection. Colours of the season include whites, creams, beiges and floral patterns reiterating the feminine fashion tone.
Dolce & Gabbana have always been an antidote to the strict formal conservatism of other fashion houses, with their flare for the daring and their love of animal prints and gold. For some it is too garish, however there are legions of fans that cannot get enough of the joy that is Dolce & Gabbana. The bright colours that are so often used to a fabulously devastating effect in their designs, be it on their designer clothes, designer handbags or designer shoes, setting Dolce & Gabbana out from the crowd, and my bets are that they are not about to alter this attention grabbing specification any time soon.
