Gil Carvalho – Porto perfection

Gil Carvalho was born and raised in Porto, Portugal. Inspired by the architecture and beauty of his surroundings, Gil Carvalho initially enrolled to study fine art and history in his homeland. Aspiring to produce something more dramatic like his idol, Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, Gil Carvalho decided to study architecture. Sure enough it wasn’t long before Gil Carvalho’s desire for the beautiful finally drew him to studying shoe design at Cordwainers College in London.

It is this broad design education that has propelled Gil Carvalho designs into the forefront of designer footwear. Combining art, sculpture and design, it is easy to spot a Gil Carvalho creation on many a well-heeled fashionista.
