Marc Jacobs - Style you cannot argue with

Marc Jacobs is a fashion name to be reckoned with, a modern American fashion house, with the sole specification of designing beautiful, tasteful women's clothes and of course designer shoes. Marc Jacobs, est. 1987, dresses women in classic, beautiful pieces such as tailor made skirts to team with delicate yet functional shirts and blouses. The name Marc Jacobs epitomises American fresh design and women's fashion prowess.

With spring just around the corner, Marc Jacobs does not disappoint. His recent Spring / Summer 08 collection shown in London displayed an anthology of quirky, eclectic mix of tailored and floating separates. Last seasons retro feel continued with Jacobs’ love of influences from times gone by. This season saw the 80’s receive a not so subtle new-age nod, with bold patterns, midriffs on show, long power suits and pearls. Flower patterning was a big theme this season and was of course at the Marc Jacob show in the form of bold, exaggerated prints in pinks and greens.

Sharply blended, and always striving to keep the fashion pack on their toes – remember the ribbed tights of last season? This season is no exception, with bold clashing colours, conflicting patterns and even skirts with knickers emblazoned upon them – a whole new meaning to ‘outwear’.

Marc Jacobs - Not your usual fashion designer

Despite winning the coveted Council of Fashion Designers of America award for New fashion talent as well as the Woman's designer of the year (1992), Marc Jacobs doesn't always follow the rules laid down by fashion set. In the spring of 2004/2005 when every other designer was focusing on extravagant safari print dresses and accessories, Marc Jacobs was designing elegant dresses that demanded lady-like posture and poise. He likes to keep the fashion world on their toes and in his beautiful shoes and that is exactly what he does.

Marc Jacobs, fashion items can be found under his own label, simply 'Marc', that specialises in showcasing Jacobs' own designs as well as being less expensive and ready-to-wear. However as the current artistic director of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs - influence on the fashion world can be felt far wider then you originally thought.
